What type of mill does OSAK use?
— Band sawmill
Is a bandsaw mill better than a chainsaw mill?
— A bandsaw mill provides a better cut finish to a chainsaw mill and can produce more slabs per log due to blade kerf (thickness of the blade) compared to a chainsaw.
What is the maximum size of wood that OSAK can mill?
— Currently 6ft wide x 19.ft long
Does OSAK sell timber?
— Yes we do check out our slabs page or please contact for latest inventory.
What is the cost for milling?
— We quote per job, we can give a close estimate over the phone, please note there is a minimum charge of $100
How big is your kiln?
— Inside is 18ft X 6ft X 5ft
Can I dry my slabs in your kiln?
— Yes we do dry slabs for clients, we charge $25 a day with a minimum 7 days
How long does it take to kiln dry wood?
— Depending on species of the wood and starting moisture content a 2” slabs take between 15-25 days to get to 8-10% moisture content in the kiln. 8-10% is about what’s needed for making furniture.
Can you use “green” freshly cut lumber?
— Yes you can depending on what you want to build, it works great for out buildings, sheds and such, not recommended for indoor projects.
